1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?
When using conventions, you are representing the characters topics, and events used in the film. How my partner and I used conventions was by advertising the Crocs and by using our legs and feet to move around in them to show their durability. The product represents social groups by advertising that these shoes are made for everyone no matter who you are, with the slogan being, "Crocs. Come as you are."
2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?
My project engages audiences with the music provided, the scenery and the lighting. Luckily for my partner and I, while we were recording our film it was bright and sunny outside so that did not complicate things us since all of our shots were supposed to be outside and cloudy weather would complicate a lot of things. If this was a real commercial that would be distributed to the public, it would be distributed through television and as online ads. There would be no specific time or day it would be distributed, anytime, any day, this commercial would be advertised to the public.
3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
Throughout this project, I think that my production skills developed throughly. Before taking this class my videos would not be well thought out and I would not rethink about taking them. Now, what I've learned in this class is that I like things to be perfect, especially for when it's for such a large grade. While filming this project, my partner and I had to retake different scenes multiple times to make it look like a real commercial and to get a good grade and make the best commercial possible. My partner and I wanted it to look as much as a real commercial even though it was filmed on a phone and during the school day. My partner and I are both very happy with how it turned out and hope to excel in later film projects.
4. How did you integrate technologies - software, hardware and online - in this project?
For this project, my partner and I integrated technologies by using a cell phone and computer. My iPhone was used to record all of the scenes that were collected to be in our commercial. My partner and I both used our own separate computers to blog and upload our media, she has a HP Pavillion and I have a MacBook Air. Having different computers did not make things complicated because all of the filming and editing were done on my cell phone. When we were editing, I used iMovie that is provided to all Apple users which made it convenient since we did not have to pay for anything. It took us about two school days to edit and pick out the music for our film. The music had to be downloaded on my phone already which included using Apple Music and an old J. Cole album. I used Youtube to upload our film to make it easier to plug into our blog which was semi-complicated trying to find the video over everyone else's but we found it and were able to embed it into our own separate blogs on Gmail.
