Filming Blog

Yesterday during class, our teacher gave us the opportunity to start filming our commercial. We started recording early and I was not present last class so I forgot to bring my Crocs, but no worries because my parter brought theirs. We had about an hour to shoot in our respectable areas of the school. Since I did not bring my Crocs, we only had one pair to work with so we were not able to shoot out entire commercial. My partner and I started recording the second scene of our project because the first scene required someone to take off their shoes and only one person had a pair of Crocs so it was not fair for my partner to not have any shoes on while I recorded. For the second scene, we recording in the seating area of our school. In these scene, I recorded my partner slipping on her Crocs with ease. For the next scene that we shot, we walked down a hallway that was outside of a building where the lighting was nice and I recorded my partner walking with her Crocs on in the regular, easy to slip on mode. After getting a couple takes of this scene, my partner and I looked around a small area to see if any other students were wearing crocs. In our storyboard, we stated that we would ask a couple of random people from the school if they would allow us to record them walking in their Crocs. We were able to get about 3 people with different color Crocs to walk down a hallway or down a flight of stairs. Tomorrow when we shoot again, I will bring my Crocs so we will be able to get more shots taken. Tomorrow, if we are allowed to shoot our commercial, my partner and I will shoot the parts we were unable to yesterday. Some shots we will be taken will be the opening shot which is the actor holding a pair of Crocs in their hands and dancing in the shoes. If the weather is nice, we will shoot these shots in the seating area, but if it is not, we will shoot a scene where either m partner or I will be walking up the stairs of the media center from a low angle. I hope that my partner and I will be able to finish filming tomorrow so we are able to put all of our time into editing. Since neither my partner nor I know much about editing films, we are going to have to learn which means downloading apps and figuring out how they work which involves some trial and error. We know what kind of angles and editing techniques we would like to use so it all just comes down to figuring out how to edit our commercial. This part may become complicated, but my partner and I work well together so I know we will figure out a way. My partner and I will do research and ask other students in our class to see if they know any easy editing techniques that we can use. After filming, when we begin editing our commercials, my partner and I will try to work on most of it in class but will communicate outside of school to get it finished fast.
