Editing Blog
Today in class, my partner and I edited our Crocs commercial. Since most of the footage was recorded on my phone, I used iMovie to edit all of the scenes. I added all of the shots that were taken on my cell phone and put them in the correct order of how my partner and I envisioned it. The commercial had to be a minimum of 27 seconds and a maximum of 30, but when editing I realized that there was almost 35 seconds of film. I shortened some pieces that did not need to be so long and finally got it down to 30 seconds. Then, it came down to adding the music. The most conflicting part of editing was the music, this also took us the most time. With trying to get all the videos together, using different editing tools, and trying to find good music, editing took us most of the class time. Between my partner and I, we went through a couple of editing sites trying to find the best and easiest one. One part that played a large factor during editing was trying to find an app or website that was free of charge. Even though I found one that was free of charge if it was necessary I would have spent the money to have a good editing app for our first film. iMovie is an app that comes with iPhone. I personally have never used it so it was not my first choice after doing research. After going through a couple of apps, my partner and I decided to try out iMovie which surprisingly was easy to use. One of my classmates helped me understand how to go through with using the app. From how to edit, to add music, and a lot more. iMovie has a lot of different features that many of the other apps I tried did not, this app should have been my first stop. With my friends help, we were able to navigate through the app smoothly and add all of our shots. Since this took up most of the editing time my partner and I did not get to finish out editing process.
