Pitch Blog

  Pitch 1:

Four friends on a vacation trip, friend that plans the trip also plans to kill everyone attending. 

We would be able to do this movie because we already have a planned idea of where we can shoot our scenes and how everything would be set up. My group and I are familiar with movies with this kind of plot so we know how everything would play out. Some problems we would have with this movie is meeting up together at this location since we do not all live near it and because of our schedules outside of school. A second problem would be Florida weather, since some of our scenes are outdoors. We are currently leaning more towards this pitch. 

Pitch 2:

Four roommates notice an off presence in the home, call medium, are told that someone died in this house years ago and wants to kill anyone who stays in the home. 

This pitch was an option that seemed okay at first, but then after reviewing it with the group it was not something that was completely suitable for the entirety of the group. The props necessary would be very complicated to acquire both physically and economically. Moreover, the pros of using this pitch are, the difficulty level it grants. It would challenge us a lot, being that we are not professional filmmakers. Additionally, it would be hard to convey the message of having a ghost or an off presence in the room being that we don't have the same advanced editing resources as professional filmmakers do. 

Pitch 3:

A teenage girl who gets addicted to drugs doesn't pay her dealer back and she gets in trouble with the biggest cartel in South America. 

We would be able to film this movie because we would be able to give it the beginning, middle, and end that it needs. My partners and I already know what location we would use and how we would have the movie come out. We can envision how everything would play out and how the script would go. This is also an easier plan because we  no longer have to rely on one person to take us somewhere because 2/3 team members now have cars. We are leaning more towards this pitch. 

WHICH ONE DID WE CHOOSE:

We chose the third option because the odds are all in our favor! We already have a location, forms of transportation, and we already have an idea for a script. We discussed this pitch thoroughly and unanimously decided on this one. We are looking forward to starting this new chapter in the year! We are extremely excited to work on a longer movie and we think we'll do a good job.

As seen in the last blog, you know that my team and I were unable to film. We were unable to film because Pedro didn't feel well so we just cancelled the entire day. Since we cancelled everything there wasn't much for us to do so we waiting until we got back to school. Today we were able to meet back up in class to talk about what we needed to do. In class we talked about why we cancelled since Pedro didn't tell me why and what we did during that day. Since we have a long period we took a break in between to do other things. Gente Research (Comedy)

     My group and I are also researching comedy. As much as we want action, we also need to laugh. A comedy would also be a lot easier for us since we can just be ourselves. Comedy movies have a lot of close- ups, pans, long shots, and zooms. Close ups allow you to lead your audience into a more intimate setting. You can literally bring your audience closer to the action. And it emphasizes the importance of what we see. But as the push continues, it all breaks, letting viewers know they're watching a comedy movie.Long shots  give an overall context to the scene and usually lets viewers know that what we’re seeing right now isn’t the whole picture... until it zooms all the way out. Static shots, or stand still shots, build suspense. In comedy movies it allows room for the characters to correct themselves or something, Almost like a "wait for it" moment. Research Blog for Music Video

My partner and I are making our music video on “Let Me Love you” by Mario. Usually in R&B songs like this one, the audience would see a storyline. The audience sees the conflict or whatever is happening in the story and the singer trying to get the main character's attention or singing to the main character, unless they are the main character.   In R&B videos, the singer, if it's a male, is usually seen wearing baggy jeans and baggy tee shirts. It's a casual outfit that was very popular in 2000's fashion. In R&B videos, the  women tend to wear basic 2000's fashion, jeans and crop tops, button ups, berets, off the shoulder shirts, and others, all paired with denim, since denim was so popular back then.   The lighting varies in videos, but it depends on the vibe and scenery of the video.
